I love being a teacher on Valentine's Day. Kids are so stinking funny!! One of my students brought me a really special gift today. He handed me a leaf with a dime taped to it. I was informed that the leaf was from a rose. Why he didn't bring the rose...I don't know. But a rose leaf with that dime... it was really something special!!
I also had a little girl hand out "Twilight" valentines. She told me, very enthusiastically, that she is "EXCESSED" with "Twilight"!! I thought I misheard her, so I asked her to tell me again. Indeed, she truly is "EXCESSED" with it!! Haha!!
Happy Valentine's Day y'all!!

TMI!!!
It was another inside morning (because it's so flipping cold outside!), so my students were in the classroom while I was finishing my orange juice from breakfast. One of my students came over and stood next to me awkwardly. I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "I just really love orange juice! I love it so much I could drink a whole bottle all by myself. But, then I'd probably have to poop." Thank you for the over share little one! I then responded, "Eww...that's gross!" This was followed up by a round of him cackling at his funny!

Hey! Fancy Lady!
So this past week I had two funnies occur. The first one was on Tuesday and it went something like this:
I was standing in front of the room waiting for the students to return to their desks so I could give them instructions. They were all looking at me and one student blurts out, "Teacher! You are so beautiful!... You look like Jesus!" Um...thank you?... I started laughing so hard! What do you say to that really?
The next funny was on Thursday. I am a lazy person by nature, so getting ready in the morning is not something I like to do. I usually show up to work with my hair pulled up in a bun or a ponytail. I do, on occasion, wear my hair down, as was the case that day. We were about 20 minutes into school when one of my kiddos looked up from his desk and our conversation went as follows:
student: Oh! Miss Gurney! Did you shower today?
me: (with a puzzled expression) I shower everyday... Why?
student: Well your hair is so poofy and cute today!
I guess I should "shower" more often so it's not such a shock when my hair is down. And btw... no one with naturally curly hair likes to be told their hair is poofy! Haha!!

And so it begins...
I started teaching first grade in the fall of 2012. My students say super funny things on almost a daily basis. We have a good time! My family is really nice and listens to my funnies and they keep saying I need to write them down. Well, I'm finally (yes...a year and a half later) getting around to it. I decided to make a blog to share my stories so others could enjoy them as well! For the next little bit I will be writing stories/comments as I remember them from last year and the beginning of this year. Going forward, however, I will post them as they happen so, check back often for a daily dose of funny!! :)
